FAQs and Support

Real Estate Professional Participation Policy

This policy explains how real estate professionals (agents, brokers, etc.) may interact on the site.

1. Who This Policy Applies To

This policy applies to any user who is licensed or involved in real estate professionally, including:

  • Licensed real estate agents
  • Brokers and managing brokers
  • Team members and assistants working for a brokerage
  • Anyone posting on behalf of a real estate company

2. Personal Accounts Only

Real estate professionals must use a personal account on CityPages. We do not offer or Verified Business Accounts for real estate agents or brokerages in the discussion areas.

3. What Real Estate Professionals May Do

Agents and other professionals are welcome to participate in the community. You may:

  • Answer general real estate or housing questions
  • Explain how parts of the buying or selling process work
  • Provide factual, educational information
  • Politely correct misinformation
  • Mention that you work in real estate when it is relevant to your answer.

Example of an allowed post:

“I’m a local agent, and here’s what a typical inspection covers and how the timeline usually works.”

4. What Real Estate Professionals May Not Do

Real estate professionals may not:

  • Promote themselves, their team, or their brokerage
  • Ask for or solicit business in any way
  • Post phone numbers, email addresses, websites, or social media for business purposes
  • Ask users to call, email, or message them directly for services. Including the DM service available.
  • Post listings, open houses, or other sales material in the discussion areas
  • Recommend themselves when someone asks, “Who is a good agent?”

Examples of not allowed posts:

  • “I’m an agent and would love to help you buy or sell. Call me at 555-123-4567.”
  • “Check out my listings at www.myagentwebsite.com.”
  • “I’m the best agent in town, message me for a free consultation.”

5. Community Recommendations

Neighbors are welcome to recommend agents they have personally used and had good experiences with. Community recommendations are allowed and encouraged when they are honest and respectful.

Real estate professionals, however, may not recommend themselves and may not organize or coordinate “review campaigns” or promotional posts.

6. Conduct Toward Other Agents

We expect all users, including real estate professionals, to treat others with respect. You may share your experience, but you may not:

  • Harass or personally attack other agents or brokerages
  • Post false or misleading statements about other professionals
  • Encourage others to target or harass a specific person or company

Moderators may remove posts that cross the line into personal attacks, defamation, or harassment.

7. How Moderation Works for Real Estate Posts

To keep discussions healthy and fair, moderators may:

  • Remove posts that violate this policy or other site rules
  • Hide or edit content that is clearly promotional
  • Send a warning or guidance message to the user
  • Temporarily restrict posting privileges in repeat or serious cases
  • Block or suspend accounts that repeatedly ignore the rules

In threads that ask “Who is a good agent?” or similar, CityPages may display a reminder that agents cannot promote themselves, but that neighbor recommendations are welcome.

8. Site Operator Disclosure

CityPages is operated by a licensed Managing Broker in the State of Illinois. This relationship is openly disclosed so the community understands that the site owner also works in real estate. The operator follows the same non-promotion rules within the community general discussion categories and does not use moderation tools to unfairly favor their own services.

9. Why These Rules Exist

Our goal is to keep the CityPages General Categories feeling like a conversation between neighbors. Verified Business Owners can use the Business Hub to promote their business, specials, job postings and press releases. Members of the community who can toggle the Business Hub postings on or off.

10. Changes to This Policy

Wildfire may update or revise this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date on this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated rules.
